We have working experience with 40 Local Planning Authorities in England and Wales. This means we well versed in National Planning Policy, researching Local Planning Policies and understanding different Local Authority Structures which is crucial for providing concise and to the point information to our clients.

Our planning expertise has been utilised on a wide array of developments including householder, advertisements, residential, retail, recreational, tourist, mineral, commercial, industrial and renewable energy. Whether you need to erect a garden fence or a 15 storey building, we have the expert experience to help.

A tried and tested project management system which allows us to stay on top of the paper work from instruction to decision. We maintain full contact with our clients and the Local Planning Authority providing updates and keeping to key deadlines to ensure a smooth application or appeal process.

James Banks BSc(Hons) AssocRTPI

James is a professional and qualified town planner with high-quality town planning experience in both the public and private sectors across nearly 40 English and Welsh Local Planning Authorities. He founded Alpha Planning & Development in July 2018, a town planning consultancy where he operates as an independent town planning professional. Other previous town planning experiences include working as a planning consultant and planning officer where he mainly dealt with minor and major residential, commercial, agricultural, industrial and renewable energy development. His most recent employment involved working as a planning officer under a six-month contract at Bridgend County Borough Council and is currently contracted to Mendip District Council as a planning officer. Other experience has included working as a planning and enforcement officer at the Vale of Glamorgan Council, a planning consultant at two private consultancies in Newport and Swansea, together with being the head of planning for a Welsh renewable energy company.
